Access Space Email on Any App: IMAP Settings

Space Guide Icon Trademark

Welcome! This guide provides the essential settings to configure your Space Email account on any IMAP client or App.

Think of this as a straightforward checklist. Simply enter the following information into your email client, and you’ll be connected in no time.

Automatic set up

Most apps, like Thunderbird, K-9 Mail, and Outlook, can automatically configure your Space Email.

In the screenshot below, we see God himself setting up his Space Email in Thunderbird. All he does is enter his address — god@cosmos.email (one of the many cool Space Email domains you can choose from) — along with his password, and clicks Continue.

Auto Configuration

In the next screen below, we see that Thunderbird instantly detects God’s Space Email settings. Excited, God simply clicks “Done” and his Space Email is fully set up.

Custom Domain Auto Configuration

If you’re using a Custom Domain for your Space Email, auto configuration is super easy.

Depending on the App or Email client you are using, you’ll choose one of the following methods for auto configuration to work.

 Open Source Apps/Clients like Thunderbird

Simply add the below redirect at your web host so Thunderbird and similar Open Source Apps and Email Clients can auto configure your Space Email.

Custom Domain URL → Redirect
https://yourdomain/.well-known/autoconfig/mail/config-v1.1.xml https://space.email/.well-known/autoconfig/mail/config-v1.1.xml

If you’re using an App that’s not Open Source, like Outlook or Apple, you can simply add a DNS record to your custom domain as follows. Don’t worry, it takes seconds to do it.

DNS for Outlook

Just add the below CNAME record to your custom domain, and wait for DNS to propagate (24 hours)

CNAME Record Value / Target
autodiscover my.space.email.

DNS for Apple Mail (macOS/iOS)

Apple Mail doesn’t use Autodiscover or Thunderbird-style autoconfig.  Simply add the below SRV records to your custom domain, and wait for DNS to propagate (24 hours)

SRV Record Value / Target
_imaps._tcp 0 1 993 my.space.email.
_submission 0 1 587 my.space.email.

Manual Configuration

If the auto configuration does not work for some reason, you can easily configure your Space Email manually. Don’t be put off by the term ‘manual.’ It literally takes less than 2 minutes.

These settings are for retrieving your emails from your Space.

Option Value
Server address my.space.email
SMTP Port 465
Encryption/Security SSL/TLS

Simply enter these details, and you’ll be all set to access your Space Email from your preferred application.
